How to Clean a Dishwasher?
Cleaning your dishwasher regularly is important to keep it functioning properly and to prevent any unpleasant smells. Here are some useful steps you can take to clean your dishwasher:
-
Remove any large pieces of food or debris from the bottom of the dishwasher. You can do this by hand or by using a damp cloth.
-
Remove the bottom rack and check for any debris or buildup. If you see any, use a damp cloth or sponge to remove it. This will help you to unblock a dishwasher also.
-
Check the spray arms for any clogs or buildup. If you see any, use a toothpick or other small object to clear out the clogs.
-
Place a dishwasher-safe cup or bowl filled with white vinegar on the top rack of the dishwasher. Run a hot water cycle on the dishwasher. The vinegar will help to break down any buildup and eliminate odours.
-
Once the cycle is complete, sprinkle a cup of baking soda on the bottom of the dishwasher and run another hot water cycle. This will help to further break down any buildup and remove any remaining odors.
-
If you have a stainless steel dishwasher, you can use a stainless steel cleaner to clean the exterior. Simply spray the cleaner on a soft cloth and wipe down the dishwasher.
-
Finally, wipe down the door seal and any other areas where water may have collected with a damp cloth to remove any remaining dirt or debris.
By following these steps, you can keep your dishwasher clean and functioning properly. Keeping your dishwasher clean will also improve the lifespan of your household appliance.
