Belling 60cm 14 Place Freestanding Dishwasher

A full-size dishwasher in black rather than the usual white. The Belling BFDW15BK takes 14 place settings in a standard 60cm freestanding cabinet, with two baskets, a sliding cutlery tray and a height-adjustable upper basket on ball-bearing wheels, so pans and tall glasses can be arranged to suit the load rather than the other way round.

Eight programmes cover the week: Auto senses how dirty the load is, ECO keeps running costs down, Intensive handles baked-on pans, Glass looks after stemware, Soak loosens dried-on food, and the 40-minute Rapid wash or the 90-minute programme turn everyday loads round quickly. Half Load, Extra Dry and delay start are a button away on the LED control panel, and when the cycle finishes the door opens by itself so steam escapes and the dishes finish drying in fresh air. It is rated D for energy at 85kWh per 100 eco cycles, uses 10 litres of water a wash and runs at 47dB.

What stands out

Fourteen place settings in 60cm

Two baskets, a sliding cutlery tray and a height-adjustable upper basket on ball-bearing wheels give room for a full family load, with space in the lower basket for tall items when the top basket is raised.

Eight programmes

Auto, Intensive, Universal, ECO, Glass, 90 Min, Rapid and Soak run from a single LED panel, so there is a cycle for breakfast bowls as well as for roasting tins.

Rapid wash in 40 minutes

When the dishes are needed again soon, the Rapid programme has them washed in 40 minutes; the 90-minute programme is the middle ground for everyday loads.

Auto door opening

At the end of the cycle the door releases on its own, letting steam out and fresh air in so plates and glasses dry without a tea towel.

Half Load and Extra Dry

Half Load saves water and energy when the baskets are not full, and Extra Dry lengthens the drying phase when you want everything cupboard-ready.

Delay start

Set the machine to start later so it runs overnight or finishes as you get home.

Class D, 47dB

The eco programme uses 85kWh per 100 cycles and 10 litres of water, and the machine runs at 47dB.
