Bosch Series 2 Freestanding 45cm Slimline Dishwasher with Home Connect
A slimline 45 cm freestanding dishwasher in white for nine place settings, with Home Connect so a cycle can be started or quietened from your phone.
The SPS2IKW01G is Bosch's Series 2 slimline machine, 84.5 cm tall and 45 cm wide, sized for kitchens and utility rooms where a full 60 cm dishwasher would take space you do not have. Nine place settings suit couples, small households and anyone who runs a load most days rather than a mountain twice a week.
Connectivity is the surprise at this level. Home Connect provides remote monitoring and control, plus Hygiene+ and Silence on Demand from the app. Five programmes cover the everyday range, from Eco 50 and Auto 45-65 to Intensive 70 for baked-on pans and Express 65 when the glasses are needed back quickly.
Ideal For
At 45 cm wide it fits where a full-size machine cannot, and the removable 30 mm worktop means it can be built under a counter run instead.
Nine place settings match the way smaller households cook: a load a day, washed on Eco 50, rather than waiting until the sink is unusable.
Push button controls, a leak protection system and a stainless steel tub make it a straightforward second machine for a back kitchen or utility space.
Key Features
Standard height of 84.5 cm and 60 cm depth, but only 45 cm across, so it fits a narrow gap without any special cabinetry.
Nine settings load across two baskets, with a knife rack in the top and a variable cutlery basket in the bottom for everything else.
Wi-Fi remote monitoring and control from the app, with Hygiene+ and Silence on Demand available as add-on functions once the machine is paired.
Eco 50, Auto 45-65, Intensive 70, Express 65 and a Favourite slot that stores the programme and option combination you use most often.
The upper basket raises and lowers so tall glasses or a deeper pot can be accommodated, and there is a cup shelf for smaller items.
Extra Dry sits alongside Remote Start, VarioSpeed and Machine Care, and the start of a cycle can be delayed by 3, 6 or 24 hours.
Why slimline suits smaller homes
A 45 cm dishwasher gives up a quarter of the width of a standard machine and, in return, leaves room for a cupboard, a bin or simply a walkway. Nine place settings still cover a full evening meal for a small household, including the pans. Because the 30 mm worktop is removable, the same machine can sit freestanding against a wall now and be built under a continuous counter later.
What Home Connect adds day to day
Pairing the machine to Wi-Fi means the app can show you how a cycle is progressing and let you start a load remotely. Hygiene+ and Silence on Demand appear as add-on functions, and the Favourite programme can be set once and then launched in a single press on the machine itself. For a Series 2 dishwasher this is a genuinely useful amount of control.
Running it well: Eco, water and drying
Eco 50 is the reference programme: 78 kilowatt hours per 100 cycles, 9.5 litres of water and three hours thirty-five minutes from start to finish. Drying is by inherent heat, using the warmth held in the load and the stainless steel tub rather than a separate system, so leaving the door open at the end helps stubborn items along. Extra Dry is there for loads that need more, and VarioSpeed shortens the cycle when time matters more than consumption.
How It Compares
| Kitchen Need | Bosch Technology | Practical Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Narrow kitchen gap | 45 cm slimline width | Fits a space a full-size machine cannot, at standard 84.5 cm height and 60 cm depth. |
| Two person household | Nine place settings | Enough for a full day of plates, glasses and pans without running half-empty loads. |
| Phone-led routines | Home Connect Wi-Fi | Check how a cycle is progressing or start the machine from the app once the load is in. |
| Baked-on pans | Intensive 70 programme | A hotter cycle for roasting tins and casserole dishes when the everyday programme is not enough. |
| Glasses in a hurry | Express 65 programme | Turns a small load around quickly when the same glasses are needed again the same evening. |
| Cutlery organisation | Knife rack and cutlery basket | Knives lie flat in the top basket while the variable basket below sorts forks and spoons. |

The Verdict
Strengths
- 45 cm slimline width, standard 84.5 cm height
- Nine place settings across two baskets
- Home Connect Wi-Fi monitoring and remote start
- Height-adjustable top basket with cup shelf
- Stainless steel tub with leak protection system
- Worktop lifts off for built-under installation

Considerations
- Energy class F: 78 kilowatt hours per 100 Eco cycles is the highest consumption in this Bosch dishwasher line-up.
- At 48 decibels, noise class C, it is audible in an open-plan room, so an overnight delayed start may suit better.
- Drying is by inherent heat rather than a heat exchanger, and Bosch fits a leak protection system rather than AquaStop.
