The WGH254ARGB is the version of Bosch's 10kg Series 6 machine that takes decisions away from you. i-DOS measures liquid detergent and softener automatically for each load, Home Connect handles it from your phone, and automatic stain removal covers six stains from the panel with ten more available through the app. The finish is cast iron grey rather than white.
Efficiency is where it separates from the rest of the range. Bosch quotes 40 kWh per 100 Eco 40-60 cycles against the 51 kWh limit for energy class A, which is 20 per cent better than the threshold, on 48 litres of water per cycle. Automatic dosing is part of that: the right amount of detergent, every time, with no over-pouring.

How i-DOS changes a wash
Most people over-pour detergent, and the excess does not make clothes cleaner. It rinses away, and some of it stays in the fabric. i-DOS holds liquid detergent and softener in reservoirs and doses each load automatically, judging what is needed rather than what fits in the cap. A turbidity sensor watches how dirty the water becomes and an overdosage indication flags a problem if one arises. The practical effect is consistent results with less detergent used, and one fewer decision every time a wash goes on.
What beating class A by 20% means
The energy label tops out at A, so a machine that beats the threshold has nowhere left to go on the letter. Bosch quantifies it instead: the class A limit under the EU regulation is 51 kWh per 100 cycles, and this machine uses 40 kWh, which is 20 per cent less. Water use is 48 litres per Eco 40-60 cycle. The trade is time, as always with efficiency ratings, since the Eco cycle runs for three hours and 55 minutes at full 10kg load.
Home Connect in a real utility room
App control on a washing machine sounds like a novelty until the practical uses appear. Remote monitoring tells you whether the cycle has finished without walking out to check, and Remote Start lets a load begin when it suits. Ten additional stain settings live in the app on top of the six on the panel, and Bosch pushes firmware updates and extra programmes by download. Remote diagnostics means a service call can start with the machine describing its own fault. All of it needs working Wi-Fi.
