Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 — Thin, Light and Wider Where It Counts
Samsung has reshaped its book-style foldable. The Galaxy Z Fold8 is wider and shorter than before, closing around a 5.5-inch, 10:16 cover screen that finally feels like a normal phone in the hand — and it does so at just 9.7mm folded, 4.5mm open and 201g. This model comes in Graphite with 1TB of storage and 16GB of RAM.
Open it and the 7.6-inch Foldable Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display reaches 3,000 nits peak with an adaptive 1-120Hz refresh rate. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy drives dual 50MP cameras with 8K video and the full Galaxy AI suite on Android 17 with One UI 9, backed by up to seven generations of OS and security updates.
A Cover Screen You Can Live On
Previous book foldables asked you to type on a long, narrow strip whenever the phone was closed. The Fold8's 5.5-inch 10:16 cover display changes the geometry: it is a genuinely phone-shaped screen, so the folded device works as your everyday phone rather than a compromise you tolerate until you can open it.
The reshaping runs through the whole body. At 4.5mm unfolded it is one of the thinnest foldables made, the crease is shallower thanks to the Armor FlexHinge, and at 201g it weighs less than many slab flagships.
Galaxy AI on a Bigger Canvas
The 7.6-inch main screen is where Galaxy AI earns its keep: Photo Assist edits with room to see what you are doing, Now Nudge surfaces the right action at the right moment, and Gemini works across split-screen apps. My FanCam and the ProVisual Engine handle capture, with 8K recording and AI-processed zoom up to 10x.
It runs Android 17 with One UI 9 from day one, and Samsung commits to up to seven generations of OS upgrades and security updates — the longest support window in the foldable market.
