ASUS ExpertCenter P500 SFF (P500SV)
An 8.6-litre business desktop with an eight-core Intel Core 5, 16GB of DDR5, a 512GB NVMe drive and a tool-free chassis you can open and expand.
The ExpertCenter P500 SFF is a small-form-factor business PC that stands 309mm tall and just 93mm wide, so it fits beside a monitor rather than under a desk. Windows 11 Pro is installed, a wired USB keyboard and mouse are included, and the chassis is designed to be opened without tools when something needs adding or replacing.
It runs an Intel Core 5 processor 210H with eight cores and twelve threads reaching 4.8GHz, 16GB of DDR5 across a two-slot SO-DIMM arrangement, and a 512GB M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD. There is room left over: a second M.2 slot, two SATA ports and a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot are all free to use.
Ideal For
Windows 11 Pro, a discrete TPM 2.0 module and a Kensington lock slot cover the things an office machine is expected to have, in a chassis that takes up almost no room.
An eight-core processor, 16GB of DDR5 and a fast NVMe drive handle accounts, documents and video calls, with a keyboard and mouse already in the box.
A free M.2 slot, two SATA ports and a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot mean storage or an expansion card can be added later without replacing the computer.
Key Features
Ninety-three millimetres wide and 309mm tall, and it opens without tools, so adding a drive or a card does not require dismantling the machine.
Eight cores and twelve threads from 2.2GHz to 4.8GHz with 12MB of cache, which is a substantial amount of processor for a machine this size.
Two SO-DIMM slots fitted with 16GB of DDR5, with ASUS rating the board for up to 64GB should the workload demand it.
An M.2 2280 solid-state drive on the PCIe 4.0 bus, with a second M.2 connector and two SATA 6Gb/s ports left free for expansion.
Two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A and a Type-C on the front with a card reader, and four USB 2.0 Type-A on the back.
HDMI 1.4 and DisplayPort 1.4 at the rear, so two monitors can be driven from the integrated graphics without an adapter.
Small form factor without the compromises
Compact business desktops usually buy their size by soldering the memory, fitting a single drive slot and removing the expansion slots. The P500 SFF does none of those things. Inside 8.6 litres there are two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots rated to 64GB, two M.2 2280 connectors, two SATA 6Gb/s ports and a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot. The chassis is tool-free, so getting to any of it is a matter of minutes rather than an afternoon.
Ports where you actually need them
The front panel carries two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, an SD and MMC card reader and a 3.5mm combo audio jack, which covers memory cards, headsets and the drive somebody hands you. The rear holds four USB 2.0 Type-A ports for the keyboard, mouse and printer that stay connected, along with HDMI, DisplayPort, Gigabit Ethernet, 7.1-channel audio and a Kensington lock slot.
What a business specification means here
Windows 11 Pro brings BitLocker, domain join and Remote Desktop, none of which the Home edition offers. Underneath it sits a discrete TPM 2.0 module rather than a firmware implementation, plus BIOS and hard-disk user password protection and a Kensington Security Slot on the rear. The machine also has Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 built in, and a 180W internal power supply means one mains lead and no external brick. For a machine that will sit on an office desk for several years, those details decide whether it stays useful.
How It Compares
| What You Need | Technology | Practical Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Office multitasking | Core 5 210H, 12 threads | Eight cores keep accounts software, a browser and a video call running together without noticeable slowdown. |
| Desks with no room | 8.6-litre, 93mm wide chassis | The machine stands beside a monitor rather than under the desk, and takes up less width than a hardback book. |
| Adding storage later | Free M.2 and SATA ports | A second NVMe drive or a pair of SATA disks can go in without replacing anything already fitted. |
| Two-monitor working | HDMI 1.4 and DisplayPort 1.4 | Both outputs are on the rear panel, so a second display needs no adapter and no graphics card. |
| Business security | Windows 11 Pro, discrete TPM 2.0 | Full-disk encryption and domain management are supported in hardware rather than emulated in firmware. |
| Card readers and headsets | Front USB-C and SD reader | Memory cards, a headset and a portable drive all connect at the front instead of behind the machine. |

The Verdict
Strengths
- Eight-core Intel Core 5 210H with twelve threads
- 16GB of DDR5 across two slots, upgradable to 64GB
- 512GB M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 solid-state drive
- Tool-free 8.6-litre chassis, 5.06 kilograms
- Free M.2, SATA and PCIe 4.0 x16 expansion
- Windows 11 Pro with discrete TPM 2.0
- Wired USB keyboard and mouse included
Considerations
- Graphics are integrated Intel Graphics only, so 3D gaming and GPU-accelerated rendering are outside this configuration's remit.
- No monitor is supplied, so a display and its cable are needed on top of the keyboard and mouse that are included.
- The four rear USB ports are USB 2.0 rather than the faster USB 3.2 sockets, which sit on the front panel instead.
What's in the Box
- ASUS ExpertCenter P500 SFF desktop PC x1
