ASUS ROG Strix G16 (2025) G615LM
A Volt Green Strix G16 built around a 24-core Core Ultra 9 and a 2.5K 240Hz ROG Nebula panel, with Wi-Fi 7 and Thunderbolt 4 for the desk.
This is the Intel side of the ROG Strix G16 range, and it leads with its screen. The 16-inch ROG Nebula Display runs 2560 x 1600 at 240Hz with a 3ms response, full DCI-P3 coverage and G-Sync, which is a specification usually reserved for far heavier machines. Behind it sit a 24-core Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX and an RTX 5060.
The rest is built for people who use a laptop as a main computer. 32GB of DDR5-5600 sits in two SO-DIMM slots with a 64GB ceiling, storage is a 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe drive, and connectivity runs to Wi-Fi 7, Thunderbolt 4, three USB Type-A ports, HDMI 2.1 and wired Gigabit Ethernet. The finish is ASUS's Volt Green.
Ideal For
240Hz at 2560 x 1600 with G-Sync and a 3ms response, driven by an RTX 5060 with a MUX switch that routes the GPU straight to the panel.
Full DCI-P3 coverage on the ROG Nebula Display means photo and video work can be judged on the laptop screen rather than deferred to an external monitor.
Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1, three USB Type-A ports and Gigabit Ethernet let this sit permanently on a desk with monitors and peripherals attached, then travel when it has to.
Key Features
The 16-inch 2560 x 1600 IPS-level display combines a 240Hz refresh rate, 3ms response, 100% DCI-P3 coverage and G-Sync in one screen.
Intel's Core Ultra 9 275HX runs twenty-four cores to 5.4GHz, so rendering, compiling and streaming all have threads to spare alongside a game.
The GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU carries 8GB of GDDR7 and can bypass the integrated graphics entirely through the MUX switch and NVIDIA Advanced Optimus.
Triple-band Wi-Fi 7 is the current wireless standard, joined by Bluetooth 5.4 for headsets and controllers and RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet for wired play.
Thunderbolt 4 handles DisplayPort and Power Delivery over one cable, while HDMI 2.1 FRL and three USB Type-A ports cover everything else.
Each key is individually lit and configurable, with a Copilot key on the layout and a 1080p infrared camera above the screen for Windows Hello.
Why 240Hz at 2.5K matters
Most laptops force a choice between resolution and refresh rate. The ROG Nebula Display here refuses to: 2560 x 1600 gives noticeably more detail and desktop space than a 1080p-class panel, while 240Hz and a 3ms response keep fast motion clean. G-Sync ties the refresh rate to the GPU so frames arrive without tearing. Add 100% DCI-P3 coverage and the same screen that handles competitive shooters is also credible for photo editing and colour grading.
Twenty-four cores in a laptop
The Core Ultra 9 275HX is Intel's high-end mobile processor, running twenty-four cores up to 5.4GHz. In practice that means a game can have the threads it needs while a stream encodes, a project compiles or a video exports in the background. Paired with 32GB of DDR5-5600 across two SO-DIMM slots, and a 64GB ceiling if you need it later, the machine copes with workloads that would stall a conventional gaming laptop.
Everything a desk setup needs
Connectivity is the quiet strength here. Thunderbolt 4 carries DisplayPort and Power Delivery, so one cable can drive a monitor and charge the laptop. A separate USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port adds a second display or fast storage, HDMI 2.1 FRL handles a television, and three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports leave room for mouse, headset and drive at once. Wi-Fi 7 and Gigabit Ethernet cover the network, wired or wireless.
How It Compares
| What You Need | Technology | Practical Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Esports at 240fps | 240Hz 2.5K panel with G-Sync | The refresh rate and 3ms response give competitive players the clearest possible view of fast movement. |
| Colour grading footage | 100% DCI-P3 ROG Nebula panel | Full cinema gamut coverage on the built-in screen means edits hold up when the work leaves the laptop. |
| Streaming while playing | 24-core Core Ultra 9 275HX | Encoding runs on spare cores, so the stream stays smooth without dragging the game's frame rate down. |
| Fast wireless networks | Wi-Fi 7 triple-band | Current-generation wireless makes better use of a modern router than the Wi-Fi 6E fitted to older machines. |
| Single-cable desk setup | Thunderbolt 4 with Power Delivery | One connection handles an external display and charging, so the laptop docks and undocks in seconds. |
| Large project files | 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe | Fast sequential access suits video scrubbing and big game installs, with 32GB of memory keeping things resident. |

The Verdict
Strengths
- 16-inch 2.5K ROG Nebula panel at 240Hz
- 100% DCI-P3 coverage with G-Sync and 3ms response
- Twenty-four core Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX
- RTX 5060 with 8GB GDDR7 and MUX switch
- 32GB DDR5-5600 expandable to 64GB
- Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and Gigabit Ethernet
- Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1 and three USB Type-A ports
Considerations
- The RTX 5060 has 8GB of GDDR7, so the most demanding titles at full 2.5K detail will need some settings reduced.
- Thunderbolt 5 and 2.5G Ethernet are reserved for the higher graphics tiers in this range; this model has Thunderbolt 4 and Gigabit LAN.
- At 2.65kg with a 280W adapter, and with only a two-speaker system, this is a desk machine rather than a travel companion.
