ASUS V400 AiO (V440VA)
A 23.8-inch all-in-one with an eight-core Core i5, a 512GB NVMe drive and a Windows Hello camera, sized for desks that cannot take a 27-inch screen.
The V400 AiO V440VA is the smaller of the two sizes in this range, at 23.8 inches rather than 27, and it is the one that fits a shelf, an alcove or a shared kitchen worktop. The computer is inside the panel, a wireless keyboard and mouse come in the box, and Windows 11 Home is installed and ready.
An Intel Core i5-13420H supplies eight cores and twelve threads with a 4.6GHz peak, and a 512GB M.2 NVMe SSD on the PCIe 4.0 bus keeps the machine responsive. The Full HD panel uses an IPS-level wide-view layer with 178-degree viewing angles, an anti-glare coating and TUV Rheinland eye-care certification.
Ideal For
At 541mm wide and 416mm tall the unit takes up little more room than a monitor, which matters in a box room, an alcove or a shared workspace.
A 1080p camera with infrared support signs each person in through Windows Hello, so switching between users does not mean typing a password every single time somebody sits down.
Eight cores, twelve threads and a fast NVMe drive cover coursework, spreadsheets and a busy browser, all without the fan noise and floor space of a separate tower unit.
Key Features
Eight cores and twelve threads from 2.1GHz up to 4.6GHz with 12MB of cache, which is more processor than a 24-inch all-in-one usually carries.
Full HD at 60Hz with an anti-glare coating, 250 nits, 100% sRGB coverage and a 93% screen-to-body ratio so the bezels stay narrow.
Colour and contrast hold up when you are looking at the screen from the side, which matters when two people share one display.
An infrared camera signs you in by face rather than password, and doubles as the video-call camera alongside built-in speakers and an array microphone.
An M.2 NVMe drive rather than a mechanical disk, so the machine starts quickly and files open the moment they are clicked.
The panel carries TUV Rheinland eye-care certification, which is worth having on a screen that gets looked at for several hours at a stretch.
Why the smaller size is practical
A 27-inch all-in-one is a commanding thing, and in a lot of Irish homes it is simply too big for where the computer has to go. At 541mm wide and 416mm tall, the V440VA slots into a shelf or a narrow desk that a larger unit would overhang. It weighs 6.9 kilograms rather than nine, and the panel is 17mm thick at its slimmest edge, so it presents as a monitor with a stand.
Signing in without a password
The 1080p camera on this configuration includes an infrared sensor, which is what Windows Hello uses to recognise a face rather than a typed password. On a machine shared by several people it removes the small daily friction of logging in, and it is more secure than the short password most households would otherwise settle on. The same camera handles video calls, with built-in speakers and an array microphone for the audio side.
A tidy desktop that keeps its ports
There is no tower, no video lead between two boxes and no second power brick, and the keyboard and mouse are wireless. What has not been sacrificed is connectivity. The rear carries three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, HDMI 1.4, Gigabit Ethernet and the DC-in socket. The side adds a USB 2.0 port, a 3.5mm combo audio jack and a Kensington lock slot. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 cover wireless, so a printer, a drive and headphones connect without a hub.
How It Compares
| What You Need | Technology | Practical Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Tight desk space | 23.8-inch all-in-one | At 541mm wide the unit fits a shelf or alcove that a 27-inch machine would overhang. |
| Shared logins | Windows Hello IR camera | Each person is recognised by face, so switching users takes a moment rather than a typed password. |
| Coursework and study | Core i5-13420H, 12 threads | Eight cores keep a research browser, a document and a video lesson running together without stalling. |
| Two at one screen | 178-degree wide viewing | Colours and contrast stay consistent when the screen is viewed from an angle rather than head on. |
| Long sessions | TUV Rheinland eye care, anti-glare | Certified eye-care measures and a matte coating reduce the strain of several hours in front of the display. |
| Quick file work | 512GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe | Solid-state storage means documents and photo folders open immediately instead of after a mechanical spin-up. |

The Verdict
Strengths
- Eight-core Core i5-13420H with twelve threads
- 512GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe solid-state drive
- 23.8-inch Full HD anti-glare panel at 60Hz
- 1080p infrared camera for Windows Hello sign-in
- TUV Rheinland-certified eye care, 100% sRGB
- Wireless keyboard and mouse included
- Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4 and Gigabit Ethernet
Considerations
- Memory is 8GB of DDR5, which suits everyday use but will feel tight with many browser tabs and a video call at once.
- Graphics are integrated Intel UHD, so modern 3D gaming and GPU-accelerated rendering are outside what this machine can do.
- The panel is 250 nits and not a touchscreen, so it is dimmer than the 27-inch model and cannot be used by tapping or drawing.
