ASUS Vivobook 16 X1607QA
A 16-inch Copilot+ laptop on Snapdragon X silicon, with a 45 TOPS neural engine, 16GB of LPDDR5X, twin USB4 ports and a 50Wh battery in Quiet Blue.
This Vivobook 16 takes a different route to the usual large-screen laptop. Its Snapdragon X X1-26-100 processor runs eight cores to 2.97GHz with 30MB of cache, and brings a Qualcomm Hexagon neural engine rated up to 45 TOPS. That neural engine is what makes it a Copilot+ PC under Windows 11 Home.
Around the processor sits a genuinely modern set of parts: 16GB of LPDDR5X memory, a 512GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD, Wi-Fi 6E on a tri-band radio, and two USB4 Type-C ports running at 40Gbps with Power Delivery and DisplayPort. The 16-inch WUXGA display fills 89 per cent of the lid, and the whole machine weighs 1.88 kg.
Ideal For
Twin USB4 Type-C ports at 40Gbps carry power, data and DisplayPort output, so a single cable can drive a monitor and charge the machine at the same time.
A 45 TOPS Hexagon neural engine gives Copilot+ features hardware of their own, running on the laptop rather than competing with the eight processor cores.
Tri-band Wi-Fi 6E with a 2x2 antenna reaches the less crowded 6GHz band, which helps on a home network full of phones, consoles and streaming boxes.
Key Features
Eight cores running to 2.97GHz with 30MB of cache, a processor designed around efficiency rather than short bursts of maximum clock speed.
The Qualcomm Hexagon NPU meets the Copilot+ PC hardware requirement, so Windows AI features run locally on dedicated silicon rather than on the CPU.
Both Type-C ports run USB4 at 40Gbps with Power Delivery and DisplayPort, alongside two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A sockets and HDMI 2.1.
A three-cell 50Wh pack charges from a 65W USB-C adapter, and USB-C charging means one adapter can serve the laptop and a phone.
1920 x 1200 at 16:10 with an anti-glare finish, 300 nits of brightness and an 89 per cent screen-to-body ratio for slim bezels.
Windows Hello facial sign-in from a Full HD sensor, with a physical shutter that closes over the lens when the camera is not in use.
What the neural engine is for
Copilot+ is a hardware standard, not a subscription. It requires a neural processing unit quick enough to run AI models on the device itself, and the Hexagon NPU here is rated up to 45 TOPS. The practical effect is that Windows AI features have their own silicon to work on, so they are not borrowing time from the eight processor cores that are already handling your browser, your documents and your video calls.
USB4 changes what one cable does
Most laptops at this size offer a single USB-C port, often limited to charging and basic data. This one has two, both running USB4 at 40Gbps with Power Delivery and DisplayPort support. That means one cable to a suitable monitor can deliver picture, data for connected peripherals and power back to the laptop, with the second port still free. Add HDMI 2.1 and two full-size USB Type-A sockets and the port selection covers old and new equipment alike.
Memory decisions made at purchase
The 16GB of LPDDR5X in this Vivobook is soldered directly to the board with no SO-DIMM slot, so the capacity you buy is the capacity you keep. That is the trade for LPDDR5X, which is faster and more power efficient than a socketed module and helps the 50Wh battery go further. Storage is more flexible: a 512GB M.2 NVMe SSD on a PCIe 4.0 interface, quick enough that large files open without waiting and sized for documents, photos and a reasonable media library.
How It Compares
| What You Need | Technology | Practical Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Single-cable docking | USB4 with DisplayPort | One Type-C cable carries display, data and power to a compatible monitor, leaving the second port free. |
| On-device AI features | 45 TOPS Hexagon NPU | Copilot+ workloads run on dedicated silicon instead of taking processor time from your open applications. |
| Crowded home Wi-Fi | Tri-band Wi-Fi 6E | Access to the 6GHz band avoids the congestion that builds up on older 2.4GHz and 5GHz channels. |
| Signing in quickly | Full HD infrared camera | Windows Hello recognises your face instead of a password, and a physical shutter covers the lens afterwards. |
| Working away from power | 50Wh three-cell battery | A larger pack than many 16-inch laptops carry, charged over USB-C from a 65W adapter. |
| Documents and reports | 16:10 WUXGA panel | The taller aspect ratio shows more lines of a document at once, which suits long reading and editing. |

The Verdict
Strengths
- Snapdragon X X1-26-100 with 45 TOPS neural engine
- Two USB4 Type-C ports at 40Gbps with DisplayPort
- 16GB LPDDR5X memory and a 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD
- Tri-band Wi-Fi 6E with Bluetooth 5.3
- Full HD infrared camera with physical privacy shutter
- 50Wh battery with 65W USB-C charging
- 1.88 kg with a 16-inch WUXGA anti-glare screen
Considerations
- The 16GB of LPDDR5X is soldered onboard with no memory slot, so the capacity cannot be increased at any point later.
- Graphics come from the integrated Qualcomm Adreno GPU with no discrete card, so demanding 3D and GPU rendering work is out of scope.
- The display is a 60Hz non-touch IPS-level panel at 300 nits, built for documents rather than colour-critical or high-refresh use.
