ASUS Zenbook Duo UX8406CA
A dual-screen laptop with two 14-inch OLED touch displays, a detachable Bluetooth keyboard, a Core Ultra 9 285H, 32GB of memory and a 2TB drive.
The Zenbook Duo UX8406CA replaces the usual keyboard deck with a second 14-inch OLED touchscreen. Lift off the ErgoSense Bluetooth keyboard, raise the built-in kickstand, and you have two stacked displays; put it back and it works as a conventional laptop. It suits people who normally run a second monitor and resent leaving it behind.
Both panels are 1920 x 1200 OLED touchscreens at 400 nits with a 0.2ms response, and both accept stylus input. Driving them is an Intel Core Ultra 9 285H with sixteen cores boosting to 5.4GHz, 32GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 2TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 drive, running Windows 11 Home as a Copilot+ PC.
Ideal For
Keep a document on the upper screen and research, notes or a spreadsheet on the lower one, without packing a separate portable monitor and its cable.
The kickstand and detachable keyboard let you set both OLED touchscreens upright on a table, so a colleague opposite can read along while you keep working.
Both 14-inch panels take touch and stylus input, so a timeline, colour palette or reference board can live permanently on the second display while you work.
Key Features
Both run 1920 x 1200 at 400 nits with a 0.2ms response, and both accept finger and stylus input across the full surface.
The Bluetooth keyboard with touchpad lifts away to expose the second display, then sits back in place for conventional laptop use.
Sixteen cores boosting to 5.4GHz with an Intel AI Boost neural engine rated up to 13 TOPS for Copilot+ features in Windows 11.
A 2TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 drive holds large media libraries and project archives locally, matched to 32GB of LPDDR5X memory.
An adjustable stand is integrated into the chassis itself, so the dual-screen mode needs no separate accessory, case or improvised propping arrangement.
Both run at 40Gbps with display output and power delivery, joined by a full-size USB-A port and HDMI 2.1 for external screens.
How the dual-screen mode actually works
The second display is not a strip or a small companion panel: it is a full 14-inch OLED touchscreen identical to the first. The ErgoSense keyboard is a separate Bluetooth unit that magnetically covers it during normal laptop use. Lift it off, extend the integrated kickstand, and both screens stand upright with the keyboard placed in front. That gives you roughly twice the vertical working area of a single 14-inch laptop, in one object you already carry.
The processing behind two OLED panels
Driving two displays and a busy workload needs headroom. The Intel Core Ultra 9 285H brings sixteen cores boosting to 5.4GHz, with Intel Arc integrated graphics and an AI Boost neural engine rated up to 13 TOPS. Memory is 32GB of LPDDR5X, and storage is a 2TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 drive, which is generous enough that video projects and large libraries can stay local. A 75Wh battery charges over USB-C from a 65W adapter.
Living with it as a single machine
Practicality decides whether a dual-screen laptop stays in use. Closed with the keyboard attached, this is a 313.5 by 217.9 mm machine, 14.6 to 19.9 mm thick, weighing 1.65 kg with the keyboard and 1.35 kg without it. Two Thunderbolt 4 ports at 40Gbps handle docking and charging from either side, with a full-size USB-A port and HDMI 2.1 alongside. A Full HD infrared camera manages Windows Hello sign-in, and dual array microphones with AI noise cancellation cover calls.
How It Compares
| What You Need | Technology | Practical Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Working with references | Two 14-inch OLED screens | Source material stays visible on the lower display while you write or edit on the upper one. |
| Sketching and annotation | Touch and stylus on both panels | Mark up either screen directly, so notes and drawings happen where the content already is. |
| Travelling to client sites | Detachable Bluetooth keyboard | The second monitor comes with the laptop instead of as a separate device to pack and cable. |
| Large media projects | 2TB NVMe with 32GB memory | Substantial local storage and memory keep footage and assets on the machine rather than an external drive. |
| Desk setup | Two Thunderbolt 4 ports | Dock, charge and drive an external display over 40Gbps connections on either side of the chassis. |
| Video calls | Infrared camera and array microphones | Windows Hello sign-in plus AI noise cancellation on the dual microphones for clearer conversations. |

The Verdict
Strengths
- Two full 14-inch OLED touchscreens at 400 nits
- Stylus support across both display surfaces
- Detachable ErgoSense Bluetooth keyboard with touchpad
- Integrated adjustable kickstand needs no accessory
- Sixteen-core Core Ultra 9 285H up to 5.4GHz
- 32GB LPDDR5X memory with a 2TB NVMe drive
- Two Thunderbolt 4 ports plus USB-A and HDMI 2.1
Considerations
- At 1.65 kg with the keyboard attached, it is heavier than a single-screen 14-inch laptop, which is the cost of the second display.
- This configuration uses the WUXGA 60Hz OLED panels rather than the 3K 120Hz option offered elsewhere in the Zenbook Duo range.
- The 32GB of LPDDR5X is soldered on board, and graphics are integrated Intel Arc with no discrete GPU for heavy 3D work.
