A built-in freezer with 96 litres across three drawers, including a tall BigBox for larger items, and LowFrost to cut down on defrosting.
The GIV21AFE0 is Bosch's Series 4 built-in freezer, made to sit behind a furniture door in an 880 by 560 by 550 mm niche. It offers 96 litres across three transparent drawers, which is a useful step up on the capacity most under counter freezers manage in a similar footprint.
One of those drawers is a BigBox, taller than the rest and sized for stacked containers, pizzas and awkward packets that will not lie flat elsewhere. LowFrost slows the build-up of ice inside, so defrosting comes round far less often, and SuperFreezing drops the temperature before a large batch goes in.
Ideal for
Batch cooking
Ninety-six litres across three drawers gives room for a month of home-cooked portions, and the BigBox drawer takes stacked containers without forcing you to repack them.
Handleless kitchens
There is no handle on the appliance door and the flat hinge carries your own furniture front, so the freezer follows whatever the rest of the kitchen does.
Occasional power cuts
Frozen food stays safe for up to 13 hours without electricity, so an evening outage need not mean emptying the drawers or throwing anything away the next morning.
Key features
96 litre capacity
Three transparent drawers hold 96 litres between them, so contents stay sorted and visible rather than piled into a single deep compartment.
BigBox drawer
One drawer is built taller than the others to take stacked food containers and larger items such as pies, loaves and party food.
LowFrost interior
Frost builds up more slowly inside, which means defrosting is needed far less often than in a conventional static freezer of the same size.
SuperFreezing function
Run it ahead of a big load and the cabinet is already cold when the new food goes in, so what is stored stays properly frozen.
13 hour holdover
If the electricity fails, the contents remain frozen for up to 13 hours, and a visual and audible alarm flags any rise in temperature.
Reversible flat hinge
The door is right hinged and reversible, with a flat hinge that carries the kitchen panel and no handle of its own on the appliance.
More to know
Ninety-six litres in a built-in column
Capacity is where this Series 4 earns its place. Ninety-six litres is a lot of frozen storage for a built-in appliance measuring 87.4 by 55.8 by 54.5 cm, and it arrives divided across three transparent drawers rather than one deep well. The taller BigBox drawer at the bottom handles stacked containers and boxed food that would otherwise have to be broken up. Note the niche is 880 mm high, taller than a standard under counter space.
LowFrost is not NoFrost
It is worth being clear about the difference. LowFrost reduces how quickly frost forms inside the cabinet, so the gap between defrosts stretches out considerably, but this is still a manual defrost freezer and you will need to empty and thaw it occasionally. In return you get a straightforward freezer with a stated consumption of 176 kWh a year, class E on the current energy label, and a 90 W connection rating.
Freezing, alarms and everyday use
Bosch rates the freezer at 5.0 kg of fresh food frozen in 24 hours with a four-star rating, so it will handle a weekly shop or a batch cooking session. SuperFreezing prepares the cabinet in advance. An LED indication display shows what is happening, and both a light and a sound warn you if the temperature rises. Running noise is 36 dB(A), a class C figure, and the appliance weighs 39.4 kg with an ice cube tray included.
