The KUR21VFE0G is Bosch's Series 4 built-under fridge, designed to disappear into an 82 by 60 cm niche behind a matching furniture door. There is no freezer compartment at all, so the full 134 litres goes to fresh food, which suits kitchens where a separate freezer or a fridge freezer elsewhere already covers frozen storage.

Two things stand out. VitaFresh gives fruit, vegetables and fresh produce conditions aimed at keeping them in good order for longer, and at 35 dB(A), noise class B, this is a quiet appliance by the standards of an under counter fridge. Three shelves, two of them adjustable, sit above two door bins, and the LED lighting uses a soft start so it does not dazzle.

Fitting an 82 cm niche

Built-under appliances live in a 82 by 60 by 55 cm opening beneath the worktop, and this one measures 82 by 59.8 by 54.8 cm. That leaves the standard clearances Bosch expects, and the flat hinge takes a furniture door on the front so the fridge reads as another cupboard. Plan the door and handle with the rest of the run, because the appliance carries no finish of its own. A stainless steel attachment door, KUZ20SX0, is available as an option.

Why no freezer can help

Plenty of kitchens already have frozen storage covered, whether by a tall freezer in the utility or a fridge freezer in the main run. In that situation a freezer compartment in an under counter appliance is dead space. Giving all 134 litres to chilled storage means three full-width shelves, two of them adjustable, and two door bins, which is a more useful arrangement for daily cooking than a small ice box you rarely open.
