Bosch Series 4 Freestanding Tall Frost Free Upright Freezer, 161 x 60 cm
A 161cm tall freezer holding 200 litres across five drawers, with full No Frost so it never needs defrosting and a 39 dB running noise.
The GSN29VWEVG is a full-height freezer in plain white, 161 cm tall and 60 cm wide, that sits alongside a fridge or fills a utility room corner. Two hundred litres are divided over five transparent drawers, one of them a BigBox for the turkey, the party ice or anything else that refuses to lie flat.
No Frost is the reason to choose it. Ice never builds up on the walls or the packets, so there is no annual defrosting ritual and no bag welded to the shelf. FreshSense sensors hold the temperature steady, SuperFreeze switches itself off again once new food is frozen, and the whole cabinet runs at 39 dB(A).
Ideal For
Sixteen kilos can be frozen in 24 hours, and SuperFreeze can be switched on ahead of a big cook-up, deactivating itself automatically afterwards. Five drawers keep portions sorted.
At 161 cm it stays under head height, which helps in a utility room or garage with a low ceiling or a sloping roofline, and the door can be hinged on either side.
VarioZone safety glass shelves lift out, so tall or oddly shaped items can go straight in. One BigBox drawer takes stacked containers and larger packs without a fight.
Key Features
Five transparent drawers, one of them a BigBox, divide 200 litres of usable freezer space across the full 161 cm height of the cabinet.
Ice is prevented from forming, so the cabinet defrosts automatically and you never need to empty it out and chip it clear.
The freezing capacity covers a big shop or a weekend of batch cooking, and SuperFreeze turns itself off automatically once the job is done.
A Class C noise rating keeps it unobtrusive, which matters if the freezer has to live in a kitchen rather than a garage or utility room.
Removable safety glass shelves give variable-use space, so a large item can go in where a drawer would otherwise limit the height.
LED electronic controls and a digital thermometer show the freezer temperature, and a visual and audible warning sounds if something goes wrong.
Why No Frost changes the routine
A conventional freezer collects ice on its walls and around the packets, and every year or two it has to be emptied, switched off and thawed out. Full No Frost removes that job completely: the cabinet manages its own defrosting, so drawers keep sliding, packets stay legible and nothing gets welded to a shelf. It also means what you put in comes out looking like food rather than a block of frost.
Keeping a steady temperature inside
FreshSense uses sensor control to hold the internal temperature constant, and MultiAirflow circulates air around the cabinet. SuperFreeze can be brought in when a large load arrives and switches itself off again automatically, which stops it being left on by accident. If the temperature does rise, the freezer warns you both on screen and audibly, and the digital thermometer tells you where it currently sits.
Where this freezer fits best
At 161 cm high, 60 cm wide and 65 cm deep, this is a standard-width appliance that stops short of full ceiling height, which suits a utility room, a garage with a sloping roof or a kitchen run where a taller cabinet would look out of place. It weighs 59.5 kg. The door is right hinged and reversible. Energy class is E at 221 kWh a year, and the supplied distance holders, which are needed to achieve that figure, add about 3.5 cm to the depth.
How It Compares
| Kitchen Need | Bosch Technology | Practical Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Annual defrosting | Full No Frost | Ice never forms, so the freezer defrosts itself and the yearly empty-and-thaw job disappears from the calendar. |
| Batch cooking weekends | 16 kg freezing capacity | Sixteen kilos can be brought down to temperature in 24 hours, with SuperFreeze on hand for larger loads. |
| Bulky frozen items | BigBox drawer | One deep drawer takes stacked containers, large joints and awkward packs that will not fit a standard tray. |
| Low ceilings | 161 cm height | Full-height storage that still clears a sloping garage roof or a utility room with limited headroom above. |
| Kitchen noise | 39 dB(A), Class C | Quiet enough to live in the kitchen rather than being exiled to the garage or the back hall. |
| Tall frozen items | VarioZone glass shelves | Removable safety glass shelves free up height for large items instead of forcing them into a fixed drawer. |

Considerations
- Bosch lists no interior light in this model, so a dark utility room or garage will need its own lighting nearby.
- The energy label class is E at 221 kWh a year, which is mid-table rather than the most efficient available.
- The supplied distance holders must be fitted to reach the declared energy consumption, and they add roughly 3.5 cm to the 65 cm depth.
