The Google Fitbit Edge is the slim tracker with a 1.34-inch always-on AMOLED display and built-in GPS, so a run, ride or hike maps itself without a phone in your pocket. It records more than 40 exercise types, many of them automatically, with live metrics on the screen, and the 17.7g recycled aluminium case is rated to 5 ATM and IP68 for swimming and showers.

Health tracking runs around the clock: heart rate, SpO2, skin temperature, breathing rate and sleep stages, plus an ECG app with AFib detection and Irregular Heart Rhythm notifications. The battery lasts up to seven days, five minutes on the USB-C cable buys a day, and the Canyon Active Band comes in both small and large sizes in the box. Phone notifications, quick replies, media controls and turn-by-turn Google Maps directions appear on the wrist, and three months of Google Health Premium, with Google Health Coach built with Gemini, are included.

Full description

Edge is the Fitbit for people who want a screen but not a smartwatch the size of a coin. The Champagne Gold aluminium case is 39 x 26mm and under 12mm thick, the band clicks on and off with a latch, and the display stays readable in sunlight at adjustable brightness.

Cardio Load, Readiness, Active Zone Minutes and VO2 Max track fitness over time, and monthly blood pressure and insulin resistance trends are Health Guardian features in the Google Health app that Google lists as coming soon. It needs a Google Account and the Google Health app on Android 11 or later or iOS 16.4 or later.

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) is taken back free of charge on a one-for-one, like-for-like basis. Waste batteries including rechargeable batteries are taken back free of charge. You are not obliged to make any purchase when returning old batteries. Each local authority must also accept household WEEE and small batteries free of charge at its recycling facilities. All WEEE and waste batteries must be recycled and should not be placed in any of your household wheelie bins. Make sure you always recycle all your old electrical goods and batteries.
