TelevisionSamsung 48" S85H OLED 4K Ultra HD HDR Smart TV (2026)
€1,399.00
An OLED television with self-illuminating pixels, Ultra Viewing Angle and a uniform 120 Hz VRR panel, driven by the NQ4 AI Gen2 processor and 4K AI Upscaling.
Every pixel in an OLED panel makes its own light and switches itself off completely, which is why black looks like black rather than dark grey. There is no backlight to bleed around bright objects, so subtitles, starfields and night scenes hold their edges. Ultra Viewing Angle means colour stays consistent for anyone sitting off to the side.
The S85H is the entry point to the OLED range, and it is consistent: all five sizes run the same 120 Hz VRR panel, the same 20 W two-channel audio and the same four HDMI ports at 4K 120 Hz. The NQ4 AI Gen2 processor covers upscaling, Real Depth Enhancer and Color Booster Pro, with Filmmaker Mode for untouched playback.
Self-emissive pixels give the kind of shadow detail that suits slow, dark cinematography, and Filmmaker Mode switches off the processing that turns film into video.
Ultra Viewing Angle keeps colour and contrast steady from the ends of a long sofa, which is where LCD sets usually start to look washed out.
All four HDMI ports take 4K 120 Hz, with VRR, ALLM, HGiG, FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible support, and Game Bar for checking it is all working.
each pixel makes its own light and switches fully off, so black has no backlight glow
the same 120 Hz VRR panel and 4K 120 Hz HDMI on all five screen sizes
colour and contrast hold up for people sitting well off to the side of the screen
the OLED HDR engine covers Adaptive, Gaming and Advanced, with Filmmaker Mode alongside
with Object Tracking Sound Lite and Q-Symphony, which lets a Samsung soundbar play alongside the panel speakers
a four-sided bezel-less front, with Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 and eARC on the connections list
On an LCD television, a backlight shines through the panel and some of that light always escapes where it should not. OLED removes the backlight entirely: each pixel is its own light source, so a star on a black sky sits against true black with nothing glowing around it. The gain shows most in dark rooms and dark films, and it is the reason OLED panels can be this thin.
Plenty of ranges save money by fitting a slower panel to the smallest screen. This one does not. Whether you buy the 48 inch or the 83 inch, you get 120 Hz VRR with a 100 Hz native panel, 4K 120 Hz on all four HDMI inputs, and the same 20 W two-channel audio. What does change by size is the energy label, the VESA pattern and the stand, so check those against your room.
Tizen runs the apps and live television, with Vision AI Companion and Now Brief on the home screen and a seven year OS upgrade commitment behind it. Bixby is built in and Alexa is supported in Ireland. Audio is 20 W in two channels with Dolby Atmos, Object Tracking Sound Lite and Active Voice Amplifier Pro; Q-Symphony pairs it with a Samsung soundbar. Four HDMI ports, two USB-A, optical out and Wi-Fi 6E complete the list.
The carton holds the television, its stand and fixings, the remote control, a power cable and the printed guides; there is no separate connection box, and wall mounts are ordered separately.
