Samsung Galaxy Book4
A 15.6-inch Full HD laptop built around a Core i5-1335U and a 1.55kg, 15.4mm chassis that still finds room for wired Ethernet.
The Galaxy Book4 is Samsung's everyday 15.6-inch laptop: a Core i5-1335U, 8GB of LPDDR4x memory and a 256GB NVMe SSD behind a Full HD IPS screen with an anti-glare finish. At 1.55kg and 15.4mm thick it suits students, home offices and anyone who wants a full-size keyboard with a numeric pad in a bag-friendly machine.
What stands out is how little the thin chassis gives up on connections. Alongside two USB Type-C and two USB 3.2 Type-A ports there is HDMI, a microSD reader and a full RJ45 Ethernet socket, which is rare at this thickness and useful wherever the Wi-Fi is unreliable. A 54Wh battery charges over USB-C from the supplied 45W adapter.
Ideal For
A 1.55kg body and USB-C charging from a compact 45W adapter make lecture-to-library days straightforward, and the anti-glare IPS panel stays readable under bright library lighting.
The RJ45 socket plugs straight into a router for a stable connection, HDMI drives a second screen, and the numeric keypad makes spreadsheet work far less awkward than on a compact laptop.
Windows 11 Home, a Full HD screen and Dolby Atmos stereo speakers cover homework, catch-up television and video calls, with a microSD reader for moving photos off a camera.
Key Features
Intel's i5-1335U runs from 1.3GHz up to 4.6GHz with 12MB of L3 cache, giving browser tabs, documents and video calls room to run together.
A 1920 x 1080 IPS panel with an anti-glare finish holds its colours off-axis and cuts reflections from overhead lights and windows.
A 54Wh battery is fed by a 45W USB Type-C adapter, so the laptop charges through the same connector standard used by the two Type-C ports.
A full-size RJ45 socket sits on the chassis, so a wired connection needs no dongle when Wi-Fi is congested or a fixed link is required.
Wi-Fi 6 in a 2x2 802.11ax configuration handles busy home networks, and Bluetooth 5.2 pairs headphones, a mouse and other accessories.
Samsung's Pro keyboard includes a numeric keypad, which speeds up any work involving figures, and Dolby Atmos tuning drives the stereo speakers for calls and video.
Why the port selection matters
Thin laptops usually trade connections for millimetres. The Galaxy Book4 is 15.4mm at its thickest and still carries two USB Type-C ports, two USB 3.2 Type-A ports, HDMI, a microSD reader, a headphone and microphone combo jack and a full RJ45 Ethernet socket. In practice that means a monitor, a wired mouse, a memory card from a camera and a network cable can all connect at once, with nothing hanging off an adapter.
The screen you will actually use
The 15.6-inch panel runs at 1920 x 1080 on IPS technology with an anti-glare coating. IPS is the reason colours and contrast hold up when you tilt the lid or when two people share the screen, and the matte finish is the reason a window behind you does not turn the display into a mirror. It is not a touchscreen, so the panel stays a matte working surface rather than a glossy one.
Living with 8GB and 256GB
Be clear-eyed about the memory and storage. Eight gigabytes of LPDDR4x is soldered to the board, so it cannot be increased later, and 256GB of NVMe storage fills faster than people expect once Windows 11 and a few applications are installed. For browsing, email, documents, streaming and video calls that configuration is comfortable. If your habit is thirty browser tabs alongside photo editing, or you keep large media libraries locally, plan on cloud storage or an external drive from the outset. The microSD reader helps here.
How It Compares
| What You Need | Technology | Practical Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| All-day lecture notes | 1.55kg chassis, 54Wh battery | Light enough to carry between rooms all day, and charged by a compact 45W USB Type-C adapter. |
| Spreadsheets and admin | Pro keyboard with numeric keypad | A dedicated number pad removes the reach to the top row when entering figures for long stretches. |
| Reliable video calls | Wired RJ45 Ethernet | Plug into the router directly when a shared Wi-Fi network drops out midway through a meeting. |
| Dual-screen working | HDMI output | Drive an external monitor from the built-in HDMI port without carrying a dock or adapter. |
| Photo transfers | microSD card reader | Move images straight from a camera card to the 256GB NVMe drive with no extra hardware. |
| Streaming and catch-up | Full HD IPS, Dolby Atmos | A 1920 x 1080 anti-glare panel and Dolby Atmos stereo speakers make evening viewing comfortable. |

The Verdict
Strengths
- Core i5-1335U with 12MB L3 cache
- Full RJ45 Ethernet socket in a 15.4mm chassis
- 15.6-inch Full HD IPS panel with anti-glare finish
- Two USB Type-C and two USB Type-A ports
- Wi-Fi 6 2x2 and Bluetooth 5.2
- 1.55kg with a 54Wh USB-C charged battery
- Pro keyboard with numeric keypad and Dolby Atmos speakers
Considerations
- The 8GB of LPDDR4x memory is soldered on board and cannot be upgraded later, so the configuration you buy is permanent.
- Graphics are Intel Iris Xe integrated only; there is no discrete GPU, so demanding 3D games and GPU rendering are outside its remit.
- The screen is not a touchscreen and the webcam is a 1.0MP unit, which is modest for a machine used heavily on video calls.
