Matter lets one device join several assistants at once
A Matter-certified device can sit in Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home and SmartThings at the same time. The Tapo P110M plug and the P304M power strip are Matter-certified. The Tapo P100 plugs, the Govee strips and the T300 and T310 sensors list Alexa and Google Assistant. Our Matter article explains that Matter 1.5, announced in November 2025, added support for cameras and video doorbells, but an existing camera does not gain it automatically, so check the listing.
A hub adds alarms, a chime and battery sensors
The Tapo H100 works with Tapo sensors to warn of danger or deter intruders, and pairs with the S200B button as a doorbell, with 19 ringtones to choose from. Its low-power link is built for long standby, so the sensors run on small batteries: the T100, T110 and T310 sensors and the S200B button on a coin cell, and the T300 on two AAA batteries, which are included. The S200B can do a different job for a press, a double press and a long press.
Check the load before plugging in a heater
Each Tapo P100 and P110 plug switches up to 13A and 2990 W. The P304M strip is rated to 3250 W in total across its outlets, so a heater and a second high-draw appliance on it at the same time can add up to more than that. For a ceiling light, the Tapo S210 fits in place of a standard 1‑gang, 1‑way switch and handles up to 600 W of LED or 1000 W of incandescent lighting, so the bulbs stay as they are.
Decide how the doorbell rings indoors
The eufy Video Doorbell C31 comes with Chime 2, and the eufy E340 can use an existing mechanical chime, a HomeBase or an Echo as its chime. A Tapo hub can do the same job for a simple button: the H100 pairs with the S200B to build a doorbell that rings indoors. Do I need a hub for smart plugs and light strips?
No. The Tapo plugs and light strips each connect to your router over Wi-Fi. A hub is needed for devices on Tapo's low-power 868MHz link: the T100, T110, T300 and T310 sensors, the S200B button and the S210 switch. The Tapo H100 is that hub, and it doubles as a chime.
Can a smart plug show what an appliance uses?
Yes, if it has energy monitoring. The Tapo P110 and P110M report in the Tapo app what the appliance plugged into them draws, so you can see, for example, whether an old fridge in the garage costs more to run than the new one in the kitchen.
Can a sensor switch a light on?
Yes, through the Tapo app. When a door opens, the T110 sensor can set off an alert, an automation or a light, and the T100 motion sensor can trigger a light or an alert before someone reaches the stairs. Both link through a Tapo hub, which can also sound an alarm.
Can I still switch things on without my phone?
Yes. The Tapo P100 and P110 plugs have a power button on the front, and the Govee strips take Alexa and Google Assistant voice commands. With a Tapo hub, the S200B button can turn the lights off or a scene on with a press, a double press or a long press.
Which light strip goes behind a TV?
The Govee TV Backlight 3 Lite is made for 55–65 inch screens. A small camera with a 180° view reads the picture and matches the strip's colours to it. The 5m Tapo L900-5, L920-5 and L930-5 are also made for the back of a TV, with colours set from the Tapo app.
Can each outlet on a power strip run on its own schedule?
Yes, on the Tapo P304M. Each outlet switches on its own from the Tapo app, so a lamp, a heater and a console on the same strip can run on different schedules. The P110 plugs also switch appliances on a schedule, and the P100 plugs take app, schedule or voice control.
