Product Summary

The Bosch Series 2 DWP64CC50M is a 60cm wall-mounted chimney cooker hood in stainless steel, rated at up to 380 cubic metres per hour of extraction in ducted mode and 235 in recirculation. Three power levels are selected on mechanical push buttons. Noise at maximum normal use is 64 dB(A) ducted, rising to 70 dB(A) when the hood recirculates. Two washable aluminium grease cassettes handle the filtering.

Lighting is two 5 watt LEDs at a neutral 4,000 kelvin, delivering 1,000 lux over the hob. The air outlet is 150 mm with a duct of the same diameter enclosed, and Bosch specifies a minimum of 650 mm above both electric and gas hobs. Overall height adjusts from 79.0 to 101.5 cm on the telescopic chimney, the body is 59.8 cm wide and 47.0 cm deep, and the hood weighs 9.2 kg. Energy efficiency class is D.

Bosch Series 2 60cm Wall-Mounted Chimney Cooker Hood

A 60cm stainless steel chimney hood that shifts up to 380 cubic metres of air an hour across three mechanical push-button speeds.

DEnergy rating

The DWP64CC50M is a Series 2 wall-mounted chimney hood, 59.8 cm wide, designed to sit above a standard 60cm hob. Extraction reaches 380 m³/h in ducted mode across three power levels, chosen with mechanical push buttons rather than a touch panel. It is the straightforward end of Bosch's hood range and none the worse for it.

Two washable aluminium grease cassettes catch the fat and lift out for cleaning, and two 5 W LEDs at 4,000 K put 1,000 lux over the hob, which is usually more light than the kitchen ceiling manages. The chimney telescopes so overall height runs from 79.0 to 101.5 cm, and the 150 mm outlet takes the duct supplied with the hood.

Three speeds, two lights and two washable filters. There is very little here to go wrong, and that is a design decision.

Ideal For

Busy hobs

Up to 380 m³/h of extraction in ducted mode across three power levels, so a pan of frying onions does not spread through the rest of the house.

Simple controls

Mechanical push buttons work with wet hands, greasy fingers or a tea towel. There is no menu, no delay and nothing to relearn after a power cut.

Dark hobs

Two 5 W LEDs at a neutral 4,000 K deliver 1,000 lux onto the cooking surface, which changes how easy it is to judge colour in a pan.

Key Features

380 m³/h extraction

Maximum extraction of 380 cubic metres per hour in ducted mode, measured to EN 61591, dropping to 235 m³/h when the hood is run on recirculation.

3 power levels

Three speeds selected on mechanical push buttons, so you can run it low as background extraction or open it up when something is searing.

2 x 5 W LEDs

Neutral 4,000 K light at 1,000 lux across the hob, bright enough to cook by without switching on the rest of the kitchen.

64 dB(A) at maximum

Bosch quotes 64 dB(A) re 1 pW at maximum normal use in ducted mode, rising to 70 dB(A) if the hood is set up to recirculate.

150 mm outlet

A 150 mm air outlet with a matching duct enclosed, and a minimum mounting height of 650 mm above either an electric or a gas hob.

9.2 kg, 135 W

Light for a chimney hood at 9.2 kg, with a connection rating of just 135 W for the whole appliance.

Ducted or recirculating, and why it matters

This hood can work either way, and the difference is large. Ducted to the outside it moves up to 380 m³/h and runs at 64 dB(A) at maximum normal use. Set up to recirculate, the air passes through a charcoal filter and back into the room: extraction falls to 235 m³/h and noise rises to 70 dB(A). Recirculation also needs a kit that is not supplied. If you can run a duct, run one.

Mechanical controls in a touchscreen age

Three push buttons and a light switch. That is the whole interface, and there is a real argument for it. Cooking is a messy business, and a mechanical button responds to a knuckle, a wet hand or the back of a spoon in a way capacitive glass does not. Nothing needs pairing, nothing forgets its settings, and there is no learning curve for anyone else in the house. The two aluminium cassettes come out for washing, which is the only regular maintenance the hood asks for.

Fitting it above your hob

The hood body is 59.8 cm wide and 47.0 cm deep, so it matches a standard 60cm hob. Overall height is adjustable from 79.0 to 101.5 cm as the chimney telescopes, which covers most ceiling heights in Irish homes. Bosch specifies a minimum of 650 mm between hob and hood, for gas and electric alike. The air outlet is 150 mm and a duct of that diameter is enclosed. At 9.2 kg the hood itself is manageable, though wall fixings still need to suit the wall you are drilling into.

How It Compares

Kitchen Need Bosch Technology Practical Benefit
Open-plan kitchen noise 64 dB(A) at maximum Ducted operation is quieter than recirculating, which Bosch rates at 70 dB(A) at maximum normal use.
Heavy frying 380 m³/h extraction Three power levels top out at 380 cubic metres an hour, enough for sustained high-heat cooking.
No external wall Recirculating mode The hood converts to recirculation with a charcoal filter kit, at 235 m³/h rather than 380.
Poor kitchen lighting 2 x 5 W LEDs A neutral 4,000 K output at 1,000 lux across the hob makes colour easy to judge.
Regular cleaning Washable aluminium cassettes Two metal grease cassettes lift out and wash, with no disposable filter to keep buying.
High ceilings Telescopic chimney Overall height adjusts between 79.0 and 101.5 cm to suit the run above your hob.

The Verdict

Strengths

  • 380 m³/h maximum extraction in ducted mode
  • Three power levels on mechanical push buttons
  • Two 5 W LEDs at 4,000 K, 1,000 lux
  • Two washable aluminium grease filter cassettes
  • Telescopic chimney adjusts from 79.0 to 101.5 cm
  • 150 mm outlet with matching duct enclosed
  • Light at 9.2 kg, 135 W connection rating

Considerations

  • Energy efficiency class D with an average annual consumption of 72.8 kWh, which is at the lower end of the current scale.
  • Recirculating operation needs a charcoal filter kit that is sold separately, and drops extraction to 235 m³/h while raising noise to 70 dB(A).
  • Controls are mechanical push buttons only: there is no touch panel, timer or remote operation on this model.
