Bosch Series 6 60cm 4 Burner Gas Hob with FlameSelect
A stainless steel four-burner gas hob with FlameSelect, setting the flame to nine defined levels instead of guessing between low and high on a dial.
The PCP6A5I90 is Bosch's Serie 6 built-in gas hob, a 60 cm model in stainless steel with four burners and continuous cast iron pan supports. It suits cooks who want a live flame and the instant response that comes with it, in a kitchen where a hob built into the worktop is the plan rather than a freestanding cooker.
FlameSelect is what separates it. Instead of an infinitely variable dial you cannot repeat, the flame is set to one of nine precisely defined levels, so the setting that held a sauce steady last week is the same setting this week. Total gas power is 7.5 kW across the four burners.
Ideal For
Nine defined FlameSelect levels and a 3 kW high-speed burner give both precision and power, from holding a hollandaise together to bringing a heavy pan of water up fast.
Built into a 56 cm cut-out in a worktop of at least 20 mm, the hob sits flat in the run with front-mounted metal dials that come off for cleaning.
The stainless steel surface matches other appliances in a brushed finish, while continuous cast iron pan supports let heavy pots slide across rather than be lifted between burners.
Key Features
The flame is set to one of nine precisely defined levels rather than a vague position on a dial, making a heat setting something you can return to exactly.
A 3 kW burner takes on stockpots and woks, alongside two 1.75 kW standard burners and a 1 kW economy burner for gentle work, 7.5 kW in total.
The cast iron pan supports run across the hob as one surface, so heavy pans slide between burners, and they are suitable for the dishwasher when cleaning time comes.
Every burner carries a flame failure safety device, cutting the gas if the flame goes out under a boil-over or a draught from an open door.
Front-mounted metal control dials ignite the burners when pushed and turned, and lift off the hob so the area beneath them can be cleaned properly.
The hob arrives pre-set for natural gas, with an LPG nozzle set included in the box for conversion to bottled gas at 28-30/37 mbar.
What nine flame levels give you
On a conventional gas dial, the setting between low and medium is a matter of feel, and it changes every time you touch the control. FlameSelect replaces that with nine precisely defined levels, so the heat for a slow ragu or a steady poach is a number rather than a guess. It also makes a recipe repeatable by someone else in the house. The four burners underneath cover the range properly: 3 kW for fast work, two at 1.75 kW for everyday pans and 1 kW for the gentlest simmering.
Built for cleaning, not just cooking
Gas hobs earn their reputation for mess from the parts around the burners. Here the pan supports are continuous cast iron and suitable for the dishwasher, so the whole grid lifts out and goes in rather than being scrubbed in place. The metal control dials are removable too, which deals with the ring of grease that collects at the base of a fixed knob. The stainless steel surface underneath wipes down flat, with the burners as the only raised parts.
Fitting a gas hob into a worktop
This is a built-in appliance and the numbers matter before you order. The hob itself measures 58.2 cm wide, 52 cm deep and 5.15 cm high, and it drops into a niche of 4.5 x 56 x 48 to 49 cm in a worktop at least 20 mm thick. Bosch classes it as a 60 cm hob even though the appliance measures 58.2 cm across. It weighs 10.6 kg, comes with a 1 m power cord for the ignition, and needs a gas connection made by a qualified installer.
How It Compares
| Kitchen Need | Bosch Technology | Practical Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Repeatable simmering | FlameSelect nine levels | Set a defined level instead of a dial position, so the same heat is available every time |
| Fast boiling | 3 kW high-speed burner | Brings large pans and stockpots up to temperature quickly, with 7.5 kW total across four burners |
| Gentle sauces | 1 kW economy burner | A small, low burner for melting chocolate or holding a sauce without scorching the base |
| Heavy pans | Continuous cast iron supports | Pots slide from burner to burner across one grid rather than being lifted each time |
| Children at home | Flame failure safety device | Gas is cut automatically on every burner if the flame is extinguished by a spill or draught |
| Bottled gas supply | LPG nozzle set included | Conversion nozzles for 28-30/37 mbar come in the box for homes not on natural gas |

The Verdict
Strengths
- FlameSelect gives nine precisely defined flame levels
- Four burners with 7.5 kW total gas power
- 3 kW high-speed burner for large pans
- Continuous cast iron pan supports, dishwasher-suitable
- Flame failure safety device on all burners
- Removable front-mounted metal control dials

Considerations
- Gas hobs carry no EU energy label class, so there is no efficiency rating to compare against electric or induction models.
- Installation needs both a gas connection made by a qualified professional and a mains supply for the ignition, via the 1 m cord fitted.
- Bosch classes this as a 60 cm hob, but the appliance is 58.2 cm wide and drops into a 56 cm cut-out, so check the worktop before ordering.
