Bosch Series 6 70cm Built-In Canopy Cooker Hood
A 70cm canopy hood that fits under an overhead cabinet in black, rated A for energy and reaching 730 m³/h when the cooking gets serious.
The DLN77AC60B is a Series 6 canopy hood, built flush into the underside of an overhead cabinet so the cupboard front stays as it is and the extraction sits out of sight. At 70 cm wide it covers more than a standard 60cm hob, which helps where the cooking area is wider than the cabinet run suggests.
It is quiet where it counts. Speed one measures 45 dB(A), speed three 63 dB(A), and the intensive setting reaches 730 m³/h at 68 dB(A) before dropping back after six minutes. Normal extraction tops out at 595 m³/h, controlled by soft touch buttons with an electronic display.
Ideal For
Built into the underside of an overhead cabinet with a niche of 34.5 x 67.6 x 26.4 cm, the canopy leaves the kitchen's visual lines alone and keeps the wall above the hob clear.
At 70 cm across, the canopy reaches past the edges of a standard 60cm hob, catching steam that drifts sideways from the outer rings rather than letting it into the room.
Speed one runs at 45 dB(A), low enough to leave on through a long simmer, with 595 m³/h available on normal speeds when something more demanding goes on the hob.
Key Features
The intensive setting reaches 730 m³/h in ducted operation and reverts to the previous speed after six minutes, so a smoky pan is dealt with and then forgotten.
Everyday extraction is unobtrusive at 45 dB(A), rising to 63 dB(A) on speed three and 68 dB(A) on intensive when the cooking demands it.
A 70 cm body covers more of the hob than a 60cm hood, with an appliance depth of 28.2 cm that keeps it tight to the underside of the cabinet.
Two 1 W LEDs at 4000 K give 400 lux over the hob, a cool, clear light that shows the true colour of what is in the pan.
An A energy rating and 55.5 kWh a year come from a 252 W connection rating, covering the fan across all three speeds plus the lighting.
Two washable aluminium grease filters lift out and go into the dishwasher, keeping the airflow clean without a weekly degreasing session.
How a canopy hood is fitted
A canopy hood is designed to disappear into the kitchen you already have. The body slots up into the underside of an overhead cabinet, needing a niche of 34.5 x 67.6 x 26.4 cm, and the appliance itself measures 34.5 x 70 x 28.2 cm. Only the base of the hood and its soft touch controls are visible from below. Bosch specifies at least 500 mm above an electric hob and 650 mm above gas, so the cabinet height sets the fitting position.
Noise, speeds and everyday use
Three speeds and an intensive setting give a useful spread. At 45 dB(A) the first stage is quiet enough to run through an evening's cooking without raising your voice, and it clears the low-level steam that fogs windows. Speed three at 63 dB(A) handles a busy hob, and intensive at 68 dB(A) is there for a wok or a pan that has caught. Intensive reverts after six minutes on its own, so the hood never sits on its loudest setting because someone forgot.
Extraction, efficiency and upkeep
Normal speeds move up to 595 m³/h, with 730 m³/h on intensive in ducted operation through the 150 mm outlet; a 120 mm adapter is enclosed for tighter runs, and a recirculation kit allows fitting where a duct to outside is not an option. Efficiency is rated A, at 55.5 kWh a year from a 252 W connection rating. Two washable aluminium filters handle grease and go in the dishwasher, and two 1 W LEDs at 4000 K supply 400 lux over the hob. The hood weighs 9.1 kg.
How It Compares
| Kitchen Need | Bosch Technology | Practical Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Keeping cabinets intact | Flush-fitted canopy design | Slots into the underside of an overhead cabinet, needing a niche of 34.5 x 67.6 x 26.4 cm |
| Long evening cooking | 45 dB(A) speed one | Quiet enough to leave running through a simmer without dominating the room |
| Wok and searing | 730 m³/h intensive | Handles smoke from high-heat cooking, then returns to the previous speed after six minutes |
| Wider cooking area | 70 cm canopy width | Reaches past the edges of a standard 60cm hob to catch steam drifting from the outer rings |
| Seeing the pan | 400 lux at 4000 K | Two LEDs give a cool, clear light that shows the true colour of food as it cooks |
| Filter cleaning | 2 aluminium grease filters | Both lift out and go in the dishwasher, so upkeep is a load rather than a scrub |

The Verdict
Strengths
- Flush-fits under an overhead cabinet, out of sight
- 70 cm width covers more than a 60cm hob
- 730 m³/h intensive and 595 m³/h normal extraction
- Quiet 45 dB(A) running on speed one
- A energy class at 55.5 kWh a year
- Two dishwasher-safe washable aluminium grease filters

Considerations
- This is a built-in canopy, needing an overhead cabinet with a niche of 34.5 x 67.6 x 26.4 cm rather than open wall space.
- Recirculating operation requires a separate recirculation kit; the box contains the hood and manual, with a 120 mm adapter for the 150 mm outlet.
- Clearances are fixed by Bosch at a minimum 500 mm above an electric hob and 650 mm above gas, which dictates cabinet height.
