Bosch Series 6 75cm 5 Burner Gas Hob with Wok Burner and FlameSelect
Five burners on black tempered glass across 75cm, with a 4 kW wok burner front and centre and nine defined flame levels on every one.
The Series 6 PPQ7A6I40 is a 75cm gas hob on frameless black tempered glass, with five burners and a total gas connection rating of 11.5 kW. It suits kitchens where several pans are usually going at once and the worktop can take the extra width. Full-metal dials run along the front and lift off for cleaning.
Two things do the heavy lifting here. The centre-front position holds a 4 kW wok burner, the most powerful in this line-up, placed where a full pan is easiest to reach. And FlameSelect gives every burner nine precisely defined levels, so heat is set by number rather than judged by looking at the flame.
Ideal For
At 4 kW, the centre-front burner is the most powerful on the hob, and semi-continuous cast iron supports hold a round-based pan steady while it is being tossed.
Five burners across 75 cm with 11.5 kW between them, so a full dinner can be cooked in one sitting rather than in relays with pans waiting their turn.
Black tempered glass with no frame, and the option to sit flush with a worktop of 30 mm or more, so the hob reads as part of the counter.
Key Features
The centre-front burner is rated 4 kW, the highest output on the hob, and sits closest to the cook so a heavy pan travels the shortest distance.
Every burner can be set to one of nine precisely defined flame levels, which makes a low simmer or a steady medium heat repeatable rather than approximate.
Outputs of 4 kW, 3 kW, two at 1.75 kW and 1 kW give a total gas connection rating of 11.5 kW across the five burners.
Cast iron pan supports run semi-continuously across the burners and separate into pieces, so pans slide where they need to go and the parts go in the dishwasher.
Full-metal dials sit at the front and pull off for cleaning, which deals with the grease that normally collects around the base of a control knob.
Fit it on top of the worktop with 20 mm minimum thickness, or flush into a worktop of 30 mm or more for a level finish.
The wok burner and where it sits
Four kilowatts is a lot of gas to put under one pan, and it changes what a home hob can do with a wok: the flame spreads up the sides of a round-based pan, so vegetables sear instead of stewing. Bosch has put it in the centre-front position, which sounds like a detail until you are lifting a full pan of stock. Nothing else has to be moved out of the way first.
Nine flame levels, explained
Gas has always been quick to respond and hard to repeat. FlameSelect fixes the second half of that. Instead of an infinite sweep between low and high, each dial steps through nine defined levels, so level three tonight is level three tomorrow. For anything that runs long, a ragu, a stock, rice left to steam, the difference shows: you set it once and stop hovering. It also makes the hob easier to share, because a setting can be described rather than demonstrated.
Fitting, connecting and cleaning
The appliance is 75.2 cm wide, 52 cm deep and 5.4 cm high, and weighs 19 kg, so it is a two-person lift. Bosch publishes the cut-out as 4.5 x 56 x 48-49 cm, which does not sit comfortably with a 75.2 cm hob, so have the installation manual to hand before any cutting starts. There is no plug: the 220-240 V supply is wired into a 3 A fused connection by an electrician, using the 1 m cord. Cleaning is glass, separable cast iron and dials that come off.
How It Compares
| Kitchen Need | Bosch Technology | Practical Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Wok cooking | 4 kW centre-front burner | The most powerful burner sits closest to you, spreading a wide flame up the sides of the pan. |
| Repeatable simmering | FlameSelect nine levels | Heat is set by number, so the same low flame is available tomorrow without any guesswork. |
| Cooking for many | Five burners, 11.5 kW | Enough burners and enough power to run a full meal at once rather than in stages. |
| Handleless kitchens | Frameless black glass | No trim around the edge, and a flush fitting option for worktops of 30 mm or more. |
| Heavy pans | Semi-continuous cast iron | Supports run across the burners so pans can be slid, then separate into pieces for the dishwasher. |
| Peace of mind | Flame failure devices | Every burner shuts off its own gas supply if the flame is blown out or drowned. |

Considerations
- Built in only, with no plug fitted: the electrical supply has to be wired into a 3 A fused connection by an electrician.
- At 75.2 cm wide and 19 kg, it needs a wider run of worktop and a second pair of hands to fit.
