In short
A home with pets asks three things of its appliances: a brush roll that stays clear of hair, a way to lift stains and muddy paw prints, and a filter that catches dander. Shark's cordless pet sticks use Anti Hair Wrap, and its HEPA air purifiers cover rooms of 23 m² to 70 m² at one air change an hour.
Pet vacuums
Cordless Shark vacuums for pet hair: sticks with Anti Hair Wrap and a handheld with a motorised pet tool.
Compare runtime first. The PowerDetect sticks and the PowerPro Pet run for up to 60 minutes on a removable battery, the PowerLite Clean & Empty for up to 40, and the Classic Handheld for up to 10, for quick clean-ups.

How to choose appliances for a home with pets
From the product descriptions, with our buying guides linked.
Pick a vacuum that keeps hair off the brush roll
Pet hair can wrap round a brush roll and clog it. Shark's Anti Hair Wrap Plus, on the PowerDetect and PowerPro Pet sticks, removes hair from the roll as you clean, and their floor sensing adjusts suction between carpet and hard floors. Then think about emptying: the PowerDetect Clean & Empty empties its bin with a slide, without contact, and the PowerLite Clean & Empty returns to a dock that holds up to 30 days of debris.
Best vacuum for pet hair in Ireland · Cordless vacuum cleaners
Use a spot cleaner for accidents and a carpet cleaner for whole rooms
A spot cleaner deals with the accident on the landing or paw prints on a car seat. The StainStriker HairPro comes with four tools, including a Pet Stain Trapping Tool, and a self-wash cycle cleans the hose and tools afterwards. For a whole room, the CarpetXpert EX220UK sprays, brushes and extracts; the EX300UK adds HeatWash and a built-in StainStriker tool for stains along the way.
Size an air purifier for the room the pets sleep in
Shark quotes coverage at one and at 4.8 air changes an hour. For a bedroom where a cat sleeps, size on the faster rate: 4 m² for the Compact Pro, 6 m² for the BreatheClear Compact, 12 m² for the HP150UK and 14 m² for the HP162UK. The HP150UK's four-layer filter includes a NanoSeal HEPA layer and a Pet Particle Barrier, and traps 99.97% of allergens, including pet dander.
Place a pan-and-tilt camera where the pet spends the day
A camera that pans and tilts covers more of the room from one spot, so a pet that moves about stays in view. The Tapo C225 covers 360° horizontally and 149° vertically, and the eufy S350 pans 360° and tilts 75°. Both record to a microSD card: up to 512 GB on the C225, and the eufy S350 also works with a HomeBase, with no mandatory cloud fees.

Good to know
Which vacuum suits a home with a dog or cat?
A cordless stick vacuum with Anti Hair Wrap, which also works as a handheld for sofas, stairs and the car. The Shark PowerDetect Cordless Pet and PowerPro Pet both turn into a handheld, and come with a pet tool for upholstery; the Classic Handheld has a motorised pet tool, and the PowerLite a FurFins pet tool.
Do spot cleaners remove pet smells as well as stains?
Yes, they are made for both. The StainStriker HairPro uses a dual-activated cleaning solution against odours and stains, and the StainForce's StainStriker technology breaks down tough stains and odours. For whole carpets, the CarpetXpert EX300UK combines dual-activated cleaning solutions with HeatWash to lift grime and neutralise odours.
How often does the NeverChange5 filter need changing?
Shark rates it in years, not months. The NeverChange5 filter in the HP150UK and the Compact Pro is rated for up to 5 years under Shark test conditions, and on the HP150UK a DebrisDefence pre-filter, which you can clean, stops hair and dander building up on the HEPA layer.
Can an air purifier help with pet smells?
Yes, if it has an odour stage as well as HEPA. The HP150UK pairs an Activated Carbon layer with an Anti-Odour cartridge aimed at smells from cooking and pets, with a dial for the scent level. The Compact Pro carries an anti-odour cartridge too.
Will a robot vacuum get tangled in pet hair?
Less often if its brushes are designed against tangles. The Dreame D20 Pro Plus uses a HyperStream detangling DuoBrush, and the eufy Omni E25 has DuoSpiral anti-tangle brushes. The D20 Pro Plus also has up to 13,000 Pa of suction for pet hair, and carpet boost raises it on carpets.
Can I check on a pet at night?
Yes, with infrared night vision. The Tapo C220 sees up to 12 m in the dark, and the C225 up to 9 m using two infrared wavelengths, 850 nm and 940 nm. A starlight sensor on both keeps the picture in colour in low light.
