A touchscreen suits roadside checks, the app suits a discreet fit
The 322GW and 422GW have a 2.5″ touchscreen and the 522GW a 3″ one, for menus and playback. The Piqo 1K and 2K drop the display and connect over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to the Nextbase app for playback, downloads and sharing, with Voice Control for hands-free use. A screenless camera is more discreet on the windscreen; a touchscreen lets you check a clip at the roadside without a phone.
A plug-in module saves running a cable to the back
The Rear View and Cabin View cameras click straight into the side of the Nextbase 322GW, 422GW or 522GW, so there is no separate cable to route through the car. The Rear Window Camera is mounted on the back glass instead. Its six-metre cable links it to the front unit, and its magnetic mount lets you adjust the angle once it is fitted.
An OBD or fuse-box cable keeps the 12V socket free
The Piqo 1K and 2K come with a lead for the 12V socket. The Nextbase OBD Power Cable for the GW dash cams and the Piqo Quick Connect OBD Cable plug into the car's OBD port rather than the fuse box. The Piqo Pro cable is wired to the fuse box instead, with a hardwire adapter and four fuse types, and works on 12V and 24V systems. The Nextbase OBD lead is 5m long and the Piqo one 0.7m, so check where the port sits.
Size the memory card by the hours you want kept
A dash cam records in a loop and overwrites the oldest unprotected files once the card is full. Nextbase U3 cards hold about 4 hours of HD on 32GB, 8 hours on 64GB and 18 hours on 128GB, or about 2, 4 and 7 hours with a rear camera module. Check the largest card your camera supports before buying a bigger one. Each Nextbase card comes with a microSD-to-SD adapter for reading files on a computer.

Which dash cams take a rear or cabin camera?
The Nextbase 322GW, 422GW and 522GW take the Series 2 Rear Window, Rear View and Cabin View cameras; the Piqo 1K and 2K do not. With a second camera, the 422GW and 522GW record 1080p at both ends or 1440p front with 720p rear, and the 322GW records 1080p front with 720p rear.
How does a dash cam record while the car is parked?
It uses a parking mode. The 322GW, 422GW and 522GW have Intelligent Parking, which records any bump or movement while the car is left unattended. Piqo Smart Parking watches for impacts once the Quick Connect OBD or Pro fuse-box cable gives it permanent power, and both cables stop the camera draining the battery below a set level.
What is the difference between the Piqo 1K and Piqo 2K?
The 2K records more detail: 2560 × 1440 against the 1K's 2560 × 1080 ultra-wide format. It also has a 145° view against 140°, and takes microSD cards up to double the 1K's 128GB limit. Both have 10Hz GPS, Enhanced Night Vision, Voice Control and the crash-tested ClickMount.
Can I play music from my phone in a car without Bluetooth?
Yes, if the car has an FM radio. The Groov-e Bluetooth FM Transmitter sends audio from your phone over FM so the existing stereo plays it, with no wiring. It also has a built-in microphone for hands-free calls, and plays music from USB or a TF card without a phone.
Which car charger can charge two phones at once?
The Anker 323 and the Groov-e 20W charger each have a USB-C and a USB-A port. The Anker gives 30W on USB-C and 22.5W on USB-A, and Anker says it takes an iPhone 14 Pro to 50% in 25 minutes. The Groov-e Bluetooth FM Transmitter also charges from a USB-A and a USB-C port.
